The Gospel

Many people are very deceived in thinking that man’s denominational religion, church attendance or just ‘being good’ saves them and satisfies God.This is a lie!

Did you know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who came to earth to die on the cross for your sins and mine?  The bible is accurate and records His life and gospel (Good News) for man.  Because of man’s sinfulness, Christ was punished and put to death on the cross, then rose again to defeat death and gain eternal life for those who will seek after Him.

Have you ever considered what this event means to your life and your eternity?

The Bible says, "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God"  (Romans 3:23).

It also says, "Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account." (Hebrews 4:13).

Your life is an open book before God. He sees all your ways/sin as though it just happened and one day you must give an account of your life to Him. The day is coming when each of us will stand before the Judge of all the earth. If your sin is not dealt with before this day, then you will face death because the Bible says, "the wages of sin is death" (Romans 6:23). This death then leads to what is called the second death and is an eternal separation from God, in hell

Jesus said "repent lest you perish" Luke 13:3

In His love, God has made a way for you to be forgiven and come to Him. The Bible says,

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life"   (John 3:16).

God sent Jesus to die in man's place; to take the punishment we deserve so that we can be saved from your sins. The Bible says that, "we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ" (Romans 5:1).

To make peace with God, you must turn from your sinful life (repent) and turn to Christ for forgiveness and new life. When you come to Jesus He will forgive you your past sins and become part of your life to give you power to live a new life, one that is pleasing to God. Man's natural desire to sin is too strong and in our own strength, without Jesus, we are unable to live in a manner that will please God. We all need Jesus and His Word to then guide and keep us from continuing in sin. In the same way that Jesus died and rose from the dead, you too can die to your old sinful ways and rise to new life in Him.

This is what is meant by being born are born of the spirit (have Holy Spirit in you) to help you to walk in holiness in a new life. The Bible says, "if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come."   (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Jesus is the only way to heaven. He said,

"I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). Religion will not get you to heaven nor can you work your way there by doing good things.

"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God -- not by works, so that no one can boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9).

If you refuse to accept God's free and only offer of salvation then, (by choice) you will spend eternity separated from God (in hell). God has done all He can to save you. It's now up to you to seek the gift of eternal life that Jesus paid for on the cross. Just before He died, Jesus said:

"Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends" (John 15:13).

To be redeemed, go to God with a repentant heart, willing to turn away from all sin and wanting to be changed. Come to Jesus as your Lord and Savior, confess your sins and ask Him to forgive you. The Bible says:

"That if you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved...everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved"

(Romans 10:9-10 & 13).

God looks at our willingness to turn from our sin (repent).  We can receive salvation when we repent, are born again (John 3:3) given the Holy Spirit and place our trust in Christ to guide us in our lives.  We then are to follow the bible in full, be baptized and walk in obedience and holiness until the end- as fruit you are His.

The bible then also teaches that those who are truly saved in Christ live holy and no longer conform to this fallen worlds ways. They separate themselves from partaking of the carnal (sinful) culture but they will proclaim the gospel into it and call others out.

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind  (Romans 12:2)

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.   (1 John 2:15)

…but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct   (1 Peter 1:15)

If you are really born in Christ, your life is then NOT your own, you will strive daily for Him in holiness and obedience. Jesus warned us that the world will hate us because of His name. (Matthew 10)
Don’t put it off as you have no guarantee of another day on earth.  Knowing Christ is about seeking and serving Him in holiness/obedience by God’s Word (the bible) not practicing man made religion or just doing good works.
